I Wish I Knew These Tips Before Selling My First Digital Product

If you’re trying to sell digital products

and nothing is working…

it’s probably not because:

  • you picked the wrong platform
  • you need a bigger audience

I started selling digital products in Oct 2024.

I’m not making millions, but I consistently get at least 3-4 sales a day now.

That doesn’t make me an expert, but it does mean I’ve learned a few things that can help you go from $0 to your first Sale and ultimately a few hundred dollars a week.

Here’s what made the biggest difference for me.

👉 You need a system.

1. Start with a problem, not a product

Don’t create a PDF and hope someone buys it.

Find a problem people already have and build something that solves it.

People don’t buy products.

They buy solutions.

2. Validate before you build

If nobody is asking for it…

there’s a good chance nobody will buy it.

The people you want to serve will tell you whether your idea is valuable.

The best validation isn’t compliments.

It’s someone willing to pay for it.

3. Traffic is your real job

No traffic = no sales.

You don’t need thousands of followers.

You just need a consistent way to get people to see your product every day.

I don’t have a huge audience either.

Most of my traffic comes from niche communities, X, Reddit, and LinkedIn.

4. Keep your setup simple

You don’t need a fancy website.

Just pick one platform and start.

  • Gumroad
  • DripForge AI
  • Payhip
  • Etsy

Done.

5. Focus on conversion, not just creation

People don’t buy products.

They buy:

👉 solutions

👉 clarity

👉 outcomes

👉 experiences

If you’re building, posting once, and waiting for sales…

you’re probably doing it wrong.

Talk to at least 10 people every day.

Ask questions.

Get feedback.

Share what you’re building.

Selling is part of the process.

At the end of the day, all you really need is a simple flow:

Idea → Validation → Traffic → Conversion.
